Monday

Craft Kits Logo Back by popular demand! We are pleased to offer weekly craft kits for kids. New kits will be released each week and are available for pickup at all Library locations during opening hours, while quantities last. Follow us on Facebook or Instagram to find out what craft will be featured each week.

Tuesday

We have a mystery to solve, and we need your help! Each week we will post a photo from our collection of historic images and ask you to help solve the mystery by providing information about the photo.

Hey kids! Meet some of the community helpers in Niagara! First, we are focusing on librarians. DM or comment your questions for firefighters and watch for the answers in an upcoming video post. Throughout fall, we will be sharing videos of some of the amazing people who help to make our community a great place to live. The firefighter video will be posted on Saturday, October 24th.

1000 Books before Kindergarten

Starting October 1st, help your child to develop a life-long love of reading by taking the pledge to read 1000 Books before Kindergarten. Sign up through myscpl.readsquared.com or download the READsquared app. Tag us using #scpl1000b4k so we can share in your little ones reading journey as well.


Food Preservation: Fermentation

Erin Riseing, Program Coordinator for the Niagara Community Garden Network, will teach participants about fermentation, a delicious food preservation method that adds healthy benefits to your vegetables. We'll make probiotic-rich sauerkraut. Please register using the eventbrite link. Registration will include the Zoom link to attend the program and supplies needed if you want to follow along at home.

Teen Trivia Murder Party *Fully Registered*

Just in time for Halloween, play a game of Trivia Murder Party with us over Zoom! In this deadly quiz show players match wits with a trivia-obsessed killer. Participants will be emailed the Zoom link close to the event date. Two devices are recommended: one for Zoom and one to use as a game controller. Ages 9-14. Maximum 8 participants. 


Making/Teaching History in the Pandemic: A Student-Research-Led History of 18th-Century Acadie

How do we teach history in the pandemic? How do we not just teach, but encourage students to create their own historical works? How do we encourage them not just to create their works, but to put that work out for a general-public audience hungry for great stories of our past? Professor Daniel Samson, Department of History, will tell the story of 10 Brock history students and how they built an internationally acclaimed digital public history project at the height of COVID-19.
